1. Roomba j7+ iRobot from iRobot.

The Roomba j7+ is iRobot's most intelligent robot vacuum to date. Its most notable innovation is its camera-based obstacle detection system. This uses AI to recognize objects such as charging cords and shoes. It's also the first robot to automatically send you a picture of an object it encounters so that you can tell it to stay clear of it in the future.

The Combo j7+ is also the best robot vacuum robot to mop we've ever tested, removing dirt and spills with ease while leaving no trace it was there. The iRobot app makes it easy to control. It can schedule cleanings and even create Keep Out Zones to ensure that it doesn't sweep in areas you don't wish to. It's compatible with Alexa or Google Assistant so you can start and stop it using voice.

Its design is also an improvement over the rest and features a sleek, top piece that appears more like a toy robotic than a loud, obnoxious one. And the Clean Base Automated Dirt Disposal System automatically empty which is great to reduce the time spent cleaning.

In our tests, we found that the j7+ was quick to removed dust, dirt, and pet hair. The rubber brushes that counter-rotate kept the debris in place instead of scattering it on the floor. It was able capture small gravel, sand and even a little grit. Most robots can't achieve this feat. It did without getting caught up in our pet's hair.

While it's not quite as sophisticated as the Roomba s9+ Self-Emptying Vacuum, which isn't able to clean stairs, the j7+ is still an excellent choice for those who need both a vac and a mop in their home. It's not expensive and the iRobot App makes it easy to use.

While the iRobot Home app is very easy to use, we've found it to be less reliable than other applications that work with robotic cleaners. It can take a long time to download updates, and at times it's hard to determine if the update is actually functioning until you've seen it in the action.

2. Roborock Q5+

When you're looking for an automated vacuum cleaner that can do more than just clean floors, your best option is probably one that is a hybrid. This kind of robot usually has a built-in water tank which means they can vacuum and mop your home at the same time. They also have a number of additional features, such as smart mapping, small obstacle avoidance, and even the capability to dry and wash mopping pads. They're expensive at retail, but they often come down in price on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Roborock is the manufacturer of some of our favorite robotic vacuums, and the Q5+ doesn't fail to impress. It's the cheapest model of their auto-empty line. While it may not include some of the premium features (like no-go areas and multi-story memories) however, it's an excellent option when you're willing to make a few compromises to save a few dollars.

The Q5+ is notably soft around obstacles like wall legs and table legs and walls, which makes it a good choice for homes with lots of furniture. It's also very thorough when it comes to cleaning dust bunnies, which is a place where cheaper robot vacuums be a bit sloppy. The navigation technology in the Q5+ is excellent as well, with only a few missing in corners and along walls.

Like other Roborock devices as well, the Q5+ can be controlled using a few buttons on the device itself or through the Roborock app. The app allows you to start and stop cleanings. You can also set up schedules, create virtual barrier and no-go areas and adjust your home map, or change the room's label.

If you select the Q5+ it comes with a new auto-emptying dock that's designed to make this robot easier to maintain. It requires a screwdriver to install, but once it's installed, the process of emptying the bin is easy. It has a large LCD screen that is very useful when setting up schedules and altering settings. This isn't an essential feature for the majority of people but it can aid in keeping track of the intervals between maintenance for your robot effortlessly.

3. Narwal Freo X Ultra

The Freo X Ultra robot vacuum and mop is a sophisticated, well-rounded mop and vacuum. It's capable of both vacuuming and mopping. Its design is among the most innovative in the market, but it's expensive.

It's a tiny base station that looks stunning and is easily hidden when not in use. The station's most appealing point is how it automates many tasks and functions that other robots leave to you. It can store clean and dirty water, it electrolyzes and heats the water (which most other robovacs require you to do), empties the dustbin after vacuuming, and ensures that your robot fully charged and clean.

Its vacuuming capabilities are also impressive. It's the only robovac that I've tested that does well at picking up dirt from floors that aren't. It's also not as loud as the costly Roomba 900 series or iRobot 980.

However, the Freo X Ultra has its shortcomings, particularly in terms of navigation. The laser and LiDAR sensors aren't as reliable as other robovacs, meaning it sometimes gets stuck or confused in certain areas of your home. It's not able to climb stairs as well as some competitors, and doesn't come with a dock that allows the user to set up an area for cleaning that is specifically designed for carpets that are soft.

Although it doesn't have as many in terms of cleaning-related options in its app or as many in-app shortcuts as other robovacs, the Freo X Ultra is still an excellent choice for those looking for a comprehensive mop and vacuum cleaner that's worth the price cost.

If you're looking to cut costs or don't mind the limitations of the robot, there are alternatives available. Many eufy models cost significantly less. The Eufy Qrevo curv, for instance, is cheaper however it comes with more features, such as the ability to climb stairs and a full-function Dock, that provides a better overall vacuuming experience on bare floors, low-pile carpets, and even high-pile ones.

4. eufy RoboVac G30

Eufy is an Anker company that has a long history of creating robot vacuums that have the right combination of features, performance and price. The G30 Hybrid is no different it offers a high-quality cleaning on hard floors and mopping, carpets and other surfaces at an affordable price point. It's simple to set up simply by snapping one of the side brushes on, turn on and plug in the charging dock. The app guides you through the steps needed to connect it to Wi-Fi and then the G30 is ready to go. The dock should be placed near an outlet and have enough space to move.

The G30 is a compact device that measures 2.85 inches in height, meaning it will be tucked away under couches and low-clearance pieces of furniture. Its design isn't as ostentatious when compared to rival models. It has a sleek black finish and three physical buttons for Auto Cleaning start/pause (which scrubs the area in a spiral fashion over two minutes), Recharge and Spot Cleaner. You can also connect the G30 with Amazon Alexa or Google Home for voice commands to perform unscheduled cleaning.

The main aspect that sets the G30 apart from most competitors is the method it cleans. It uses an integrated map to draw an image of the unmovable items that are in its path. It keeps track of the things it has cleaned and what it is unable to access. It will return to the base to recharge, and then begins cleaning where it left off.

The elegant G30 has some flaws. The iRobot Roomba is built better and has lower recurring costs. It charges faster, has similar battery life and performs better on bare flooring or carpet with a low pile. It comes with a larger dust bin that does not require as much emptying. It also has boundary strips that keep it from certain areas. The G30 is cheaper and easier to maintain. Its smaller dust container doesn't require as frequent emptying and it struggles less with bulky materials such as cereal.
